D&AD

Our programme has a long history of working with the charity Designers and Art Directors (D&AD)

Many of our graduates have secured their first job as a result of the New Blood Festival. Check them out at https://www.dandad.org/en/d-ad-new-blood-festival/

Industry events

We like to get out and about and meet other designers. Each month we attend networking events such as GLUG and Petcha Kucha and some of our undergrads have event presented their work at these events. It's a great way of meeting potential employers and other designs.

Study trips

From Tokyo to Hong Kong, Amsterdam to New York. Each year we pack up our Mac books and take a plane to a far flung destination in search of new and exciting design inspiration. We even spent time at the fabulous Kessels Kramer studios. https://www.kesselskramer.com/

Guest speakers

Each year we welcome a range of guest speakers from the Creative Industries. Visitors take the time to discuss their practice with our undergraduates and offer them one to one feedback on their university projects and personal design practice. Some even offer placements at their studios.

Year 0

If you feel that year 1 of the degree programme isn't quite right for you, or you are returning to study after a break you may wish to consider a four year degree programme instead. Year 0 will help give you the skills and confidence you need to study at degree level.

Year 1

In year 1 you will study the building blocks of design. typography, layout, contrast, hierarchy, structure and much more. You will learn new software and gain new skills ready to take on live client driven briefs at year 2. And let's not forget, making a whole raft of new friends!

Year 2

During this year you will be working with clients from the charitable and commercial sectors as well as working alongside a range of design agencies. You will have the opportunity to have your work seen by a range of clients - this has lead to student placements and internships over the past few years.

Year 3

During this year you will start to design your outcomes around your personal and professional career interests. Working with a range of clients and tutors you will negotiate your design route through a range of real-world themes.

Then it's out into the design industry or onto your masters!

Travel

During the academic year we try to involve our students in trips. This is not only for educational purposes but also a chance for us to reinvigorate our passion for creativity and expression. In previous years we have had trips to London, HongKong, Barcelona, Amsterdam.

Social skills

Great social skills are just as important as brilliant design skills and we will help you develop both. Through a range of opportunities to grow, we will help you build your confidence and expand your range of personal and professional skills.

Peer support

We encourage you to make friends and take inspiration from other students across the programme.

We can help match your needs and inspiration in year one with a like minded mentor in year three or with a critical friend already in the design industry.
